Changing the Season

A cold breeze

Awakens me.

I yawn, I sneeze

Outside, the snow I see.

A stretch, a flutter

My wings come alive.

I walk out and shutter

Then jump and dive.

A big oak, little wings

I fly all around

I ice trees and things

The forest has no sound.

My magic sparkles and shines

My friends finally arrive.

We all form a line

Then split into five.

The sky grows grey

And snowflakes rain.

We work night and day

A season change is our gain.

We are winter.

Snow, ice, and chill

We freeze every stone and splinter

Till everything is still.

Our beauty is seen

Yet no one believes.

Where have we been?

In the trees, or up your sleeves?

We work hard to change the season

Why? For beauty, is there any other reason?
